| Born in the United States of America in 1952, Kerr become a member of the Japanese studies program at Yale University. Becoming a researcher for eastern culture, he became fascinated by the old houses in the Iya alley and whilst studying at Keio University, chose one to work on and restore. Kerr also received the Shincho Gakugei award for his book ‘Lost Japan’. |
